Community Guidelines

top 8 is built for sharing with people you know. These rules apply everywhere on the Service, including private one-to-one chats.

Version 1.0 · Effective August 3, 2026 · Last updated August 3, 2026

These Guidelines apply to accounts, usernames, display names, profile images, Top 8 relationship labels, invitations, stories, captions, reposts, comments, mentions, chats, reports, and every other use of top 8. They supplement the Terms of Service.

1. Respect people and their boundaries

Do not harass, bully, stalk, shame, blackmail, threaten, intimidate, or repeatedly contact someone who has made it clear they do not want contact. Do not coordinate abuse or encourage others to target a person. Custom relationship labels may not be used to demean, sexualize, threaten, or harass someone.

2. Protect minors

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material; sexual exploitation, grooming, or sexualization of minors; attempts to obtain sexual material from a minor; or content or conduct that identifies, traffics, extorts, or endangers a minor. Do not create, request, possess, send, save, or distribute this material through top 8.

We may preserve and report suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and law enforcement as required or permitted by law.

3. No nonconsensual intimate or pornographic content

Do not post, send, request, threaten to share, or distribute an intimate image or recording without the depicted person's consent. This prohibition includes real images, altered images, and digital forgeries. Do not engage in sextortion, sexual coercion, trafficking, prostitution facilitation, or unwanted sexual solicitation. Pornographic and sexually explicit content is not allowed.

A person depicted in nonconsensual intimate content, or an authorized representative, may use our public removal process at Support: intimate-image removal. No top 8 account is required.

4. No threats, dangerous conduct, or encouragement of self-harm

Do not threaten serious harm, praise or coordinate violent attacks, provide credible instructions for harming a specific person, encourage suicide or self-injury, or use the Service to create an imminent safety risk. Supportive discussion, recovery, education, or news context may be allowed, but graphic, celebratory, or instructional material may still be restricted.

5. No hateful or dehumanizing attacks

Do not attack, degrade, exclude, or threaten people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, serious disease, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or another protected characteristic. Slurs and hateful content may be removed even when framed as humor.

Do not reveal another person's private phone number, address, financial information, credentials, precise live location, private communications, intimate information, or other sensitive information without permission. Do not share screenshots, recordings, direct media links, or chat content in a way that harasses, exploits, or violates someone's rights.

7. Be authentic and do not deceive people

Do not impersonate a person or organization, create deceptive accounts, misrepresent affiliation, manipulate relationships, scam users, commit fraud, or use another person's phone number, contacts, identity, or account without authorization.

8. No spam, automation, or manipulation

Do not send bulk or repetitive invitations, messages, comments, or mentions; use bots or scripts; scrape the Service; evade connection limits; artificially manipulate engagement; or interfere with security, moderation, blocking, or reporting tools.

9. Respect intellectual property

Post only content you created or have permission to use. Do not infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other rights. We may remove infringing content and, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or terminate accounts of repeat infringers. Copyright complaints may be submitted through our Copyright & DMCA page.

10. Follow the law

Do not use top 8 to facilitate illegal transactions, malicious software, unauthorized access, exploitation, trafficking, fraud, evasion of law enforcement, or other unlawful activity. You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to you.

11. Reporting and blocking

Use the in-app Report option for a specific account, story, comment, or message. Use Settings > Report a safety issue for a concern that is not tied to visible content. You can block a user to end connections and restrict mutual access. Reported users are not automatically told who reported them.

Reported content may be preserved after it would otherwise expire. Do not submit knowingly false reports, manipulate evidence, or misuse reporting to retaliate against someone.

12. Enforcement and appeals

We consider severity, context, history, intent, and risk. We may remove content, prevent reposting or mentions, restrict invitations or messaging, warn a user, require changes, temporarily suspend an account, permanently terminate an account, prevent re-registration, preserve evidence, or contact appropriate authorities. We may act without advance notice when needed for safety, security, or law.

We do not review every item before it is shared and may not detect every violation. Users remain responsible for what they post and send. Where appropriate, you may appeal an enforcement decision by emailing safety@top8app.co with your username, the decision, and why you believe it should be reconsidered.

13. Emergencies

top 8 is not monitored continuously and is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For non-emergency safety concerns, use the in-app reporting tools or email safety@top8app.co.
