Get help with your account, report a safety concern, make a privacy request, or request removal of content.
Report a safety issue in the app
Use the Report option on a user, story, comment, or message whenever the concern is tied to content you can see. For a concern that is not tied to a specific item, use Settings > Report a safety issue. Reports may preserve the associated content and metadata beyond its ordinary expiration so we can investigate.
You can also block another user. Blocking removes the connection, deletes the active chat, and generally prevents the two users from finding or directly accessing one another through top 8. Unblocking does not restore the former connection.
Request removal of content you posted
You can delete your own stories, reposts, and comments (shown in the app as a 'yap sesh') using available controls in the app. Sent chat messages do not have a self-service delete control at launch.
To request removal of content you posted, email privacy@top8app.co with the subject "Content Removal Request" and include:
- your top 8 username;
- the type of content, such as a message, comment, story, caption, or relationship label;
- the approximate date and time and enough context to locate it, such as the other participant or story poster; and
- the best way to contact you.
We may ask you to verify the request through your signed-in account or phone authentication. Removal may not eliminate copies made by other users, reposted content, delivered notification previews, restricted safety or legal records, or provider backups.
Request removal of a nonconsensual intimate image or video
If an intimate image or video of you was shared on top 8 without your consent - including a digitally altered image or deepfake - you or an authorized representative can submit a removal request. You do not need a top 8 account.
Email safety@top8app.co with the subject "TAKE IT DOWN Request." Do not attach or resend the intimate image unless our safety team specifically asks you to do so.
Your written request must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full legal name as your signature is acceptable.
- A statement that you are the person depicted or an authorized representative acting for that person.
- Information reasonably sufficient for us to locate the content, such as the top 8 username, whether it appeared in a story or message, the approximate date and time, the other participant, and a direct link or content identifier if available.
- A brief statement that you have a good-faith belief the identified intimate image or video was published without the depicted person's consent, along with any relevant information.
- Contact information we can use to respond to you.
After receiving a valid request, we will remove the identified content as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours, and we will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies.
Delete your account
- Open top 8 and go to Settings.
- Select Account.
- Select Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps.
Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account. After account deletion, your username may remain unavailable for up to 30 days, and limited information may be retained longer for safety, security, legal compliance, or provider backups as described in the Privacy Policy.
Copyright and intellectual-property complaints
To report content that you believe infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property rights, email legal@top8app.co. Include:
- your name and contact information;
- a description of the work or right you believe is infringed;
- information sufficient to locate the content on top 8;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights owner, its agent, or law;
- a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights owner or authorized to act for the owner; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
We may remove or restrict content while reviewing a complaint and may take action against repeat infringers.
